Company

Dr. Kari Luomakoski established FinnFleet in 2013. Charles Bonfield joined mid 2014 to head the company’s London operations. Both Kari and Charles have long shipping industry experience. Since 2013, FinnFleet has built two different investment structures. The first structure was a club deal with Nordic family offices, and the second one is a co-investment managed by a publicly quoted asset management company (please see Taaleri Merenkulku section for more information.)

FinnFleet has had participation in dry and wet bulk vessels of 28,000 – 300,000 DWT (dead weight ton). These vessels are operated globally in joint ventures together with the leading pool operators for the transportation of commodities. The company’s offering include medium-term solutions that have very high return expectations as well as longer-term structures in which risks are more moderate but return potential remains highly competitive.

FinnFleet is also registered to trade freight forward agreements and bunker derivatives allowing hedging of its physical positions or as a means of taking additional synthetic ‘long’ exposure. At the moment, FinnFleet has outsourced commercial and technical management of vessels, including manning. With presence in Helsinki, London, Tallinn and Singapore, FinnFleet is able to maintain close relationships with its partners as well as follow the shipping markets closely.
